Small dine in Sushi Spot, super cute place, gets busy quick so find a slow time and stop in. The monster roll was SO good. The shrimp Tempura roll was also good. I also tried the chicken teriyaki bowl, but it was not the bowl it came on a plate, with a scoop of rice and was loaded with mostly onions (I don't like onions particularly). It did taste yummy, I ate most of it. Fairly priced, although the shrimp Tempura roll only came with five pieces for $3 less than the larger roll, it's more of a half roll. If your going to get a good sized roll go with the rolls that are $16-18 just so you aren't disappointed with quantity for price. Overall, id definitely stop in again, it was good.
Pretty good sashimi and rolls all around, with nothing spectacular and nothing terribly negative. I think if one wants to look for a quick bite while craving sushi instead of looking for anything exquisite or amazingly delicious, which was what my friends and I did, then this establishment would be a good option.
We ordered the sake (salmon) and o-toro (fatty tuna) sashimi, and we were given a reasonable amount with the price that was charged. The sashimi was pretty good in a standard manner. We quickly devoured it. The chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu bento box was also pretty standardly good, with a fair amount of chicken and basic salad with dressing, along with two pieces of oranges and a little bit of rice. Once again, good in a standard way. In fact, I could say the same about everything else, from the red dragon roll to the Seattle tempura roll and to the tempura ice cream. I thought they all resembled what I have had elsewhere in the United States when looking for a Japanese food place located in an outlet-looking type of place, so if you know what I mean, then this is what you would expect here at Sushi Joa as well.
That's about it! One plus I will give was the playlist, which I even asked about. They put "Snooze" by SZA on Apple Music and all it played was R&B songs by similar musicians and I was totally down for that haha. But of course, that is purely my personal preference so I just want to throw that out there!
Love the food here, waitresses are nice and courteous. My aunt usually takes us here for dinner. The new vegetarian options are good. I forgot what I ordered but everything has been tasty every time we visit.
The food was delicious and the portions were very generous! Will be coming back for more!
Awesome sushi chef Gio and Carlos were serving us at sushi bar. Good little neighborhood sushi restaurant in Mercer island. Fried oysters were good. Bento, chirashi and my sashimi omakase was all fresh and yummy. Fatty tuna was very good that night. Melts in your mouth :) next time you are at Mercer island and crave for some sushi, go try sushi Joa
Great place to eat and the waitress was absolutely wonderful! The poke bowl was too spicy for me (on me, it said chili) and she offered to make me another dish free of charge. Wonderful place, will be back!
Sushi Joa is a local Mercer Island Japanese restaurant that has tons of options at a great price, surprisingly for Mercer Island. The staff here is always friendly and everything is made fresh to order. They put a lot of time and effort into the food as well, so its delicious, although you should always call ahead and order since the wait can be 30 minutes (since they are quite popular as well). Would highly recommend the bento box as it's a mix of everything for a great price.
I have seen some Facebook or IG ads about place and looked good. So, I tried it out. The service was fine. The staff was courteous and food came out in a reasonable time. The restaurant looked clean. I ordered Chirashi sushi and my friend ordered a bento box. First of all, the amount of sashimi was much less and the quality was not that good compared to other restaurants that had similar price. Second of all, tamago ( egg) tasted once frozen. That was not acceptable to me. Chirashi is definitely over priced. I don’t recommend it. I have had much better Chirashi at less than half of this price.
It is my favorite dish. I had it from numbers of restaurants and take out places. I know what I am talking about.
Bento box looked decent.
Parking available. Family friendly.
